It’s been nearly a year since I tried out this kit and I seriously don’t know why I never put the post up after it got published on Handbag.com but it’s okay because I’m putting it up now.
Better late than never eh?
Review: At-home gel manicure kits are much more accessible now compared to when this kit launched but I think they should get some props for being one of the first companies to try and help you get salon quality gels nails from the comfort of your own home.
I was taught how to follow the step by step rules of the kit but it’s really not complicated for anyone who’s actually had a gel manicure before anyway.
The kit comes with a handy LED light to dry the polish in 45 seconds – the manicure’s secret weapon! – so gone are the days of hand waving and running around in the ‘drying position’ trying not to smudge your still sticky nails.
But at the same time, it’s all a bit fiddly if you aren’t already a nail pro – and trust me I’m not. Cool nail art is never something I can master because I just don’t have the steady hand for it. Sigh…
Anyway, my problem with all these at home kits is that it’s still better to have someone else do the job for you. But maybe it can be your BFF or housemate instead of a pricey nail technician!
The choice is yours!
Verdict: A nice and effective kit but it all depends on your own skill when it comes to the promised “salon style results”.
The Red Carpet Professional LED Manicure Kit, £89.95, is available online at redcarpetmanicure.co.uk and Harvey Nichols. Or you can get the starter kit at a slightly less pricey £65
