It’s safe to say that Vaseline have stepped things up over the years to ensure their name means more than just their infamous petroleum jelly.
They are one of the leading skin care brands around town and they’ve been busy cooking up some new moisturising must-haves.
I’ve been meaning to review the Spray & Go ever since one got sent to the office months ago because I was eager to see if it could live up to its promises:
Vaseline Spray & Go Body Moisturiser is a quick, convenient spray lotion that deeply moisturises and absorbs fast so you can put your clothes straight on. The revolutionary continuous spray dispenses the lotion quickly and evenly.
With pure natural extracts and a Stratys-3 multi-layer moisture complex, the lotion absorbs into skin in seconds.
The fast-absorbing formula of Vaseline Spray & Go has been designed to lock in moisture whilst leaving the skin feeling instantly soft – not greasy or sticky.
It’s available in three types: Oats, Aloe and Cocoa. Naturally I chose Cocoa and here’s what I thought.
Review: I don’t know about you but the sound of a spray moisturiser just seems so efficient. The adverts for this boast about how you can just spray on, rub in and whack your clothes on in seconds so it’s basically perfect right?
I’ve been brought up to moisturise my body throughly every single day. Whether I’m running late or my skin has been left luxuriously soft by my body wash, I still have to slap on the body cream.
But I never really have to stop and wait for the cream to sink in before I through my clothes on so that lovely bonus they talk about doesn’t really affect my routine.
Thinking back, I’m pretty sure the Spray & Go was always going to be at a disadvantage when tested by me because my spoiled skin is only used to thick creamy body butters.
Considering the fact the spray is meant to be light enough for skin to absorb it in seconds, I found it still the standard amount of rubbing in before it was fully absorbed. This is what it looked like immediately when it was sprayed on…
Naturally, the formula was a bit more liquid in consistency compared to a body lotion but it did leave my skin with a lovely moisturised sheen. But as the day progressed, I did feel dryness creeping up and making my skin unhappy. So either I needed to use more which would make the spray run out pretty quick or it just isn’t going to work for my greedy skin.
For me the problem is the fact that it wasn’t much quicker than whacking on your normal body cream and it’s definitely much harder to get tricky areas like your back. I might just have been groggy in the morning but it was a nightmare to try and spray my back, I was amazed at how much spray I got everywhere BUT my back.
Verdict: I’ve thrown this into my suitcase because I think it’s probably best for use on holidays when you just need to top up your sheen on the go.
It won’t be replacing my beloved body butter’s in my daily routine but for those who don’t moisturise every day it might be a great buy.
