Gel nails are fab when you can get them done but at home kits can be a bit tedious if you don’t have the time to spare.
So when I was invited to the launch of the Nutra Nail Gel Perfect 5 Minute Gel-Colour manicure kit earlier this year, I was pretty intrigued by its promise to create the shine of a gel-like manicure without having to use a UV or LED light.
Review: Despite seeing mixed reviews from US bloggers, I was pretty happy with how good the nails looked after a super speedy drying time. I had it applied by a member of the product team but the application process was simple enough.
The trick is in the special activator which you use a base, middle and top coat which helps to make your nail polish“set” rather than dry.
For the first three days, everything was fine but once my nails started chipping I began to see the downside of the product. Each chip that started to peel off seemed to be taking a rather sizeable amount of my nail off with it. And as a girl with unbelievably weak nails, this was NOT a fun thing.
I did like the ease in which you can remove the polish thanks to the No-Mess Express Remover pads but because it’s a pouch for the whole hand, it’s not easy to fix a single nail when chipping starts.
The kit is available in eight lush shades called Lotus, Sheer Natural, Sheer Pink, Pretty Pink, Vintage Mauve, Sugar Plum, Sapphire and Dahlia but you can find the same colours in any trusty nail varnish brand to be honest.
Verdict: This product definitely delivers the results and is a decent alternative but I found it far too damaging on my nails for me to use it again.
Have you tried the Nutra Nail kits before?
