Restaurant Diet: Farm Girl Cafe

July 16, 2017

The latest stop in the Restaurant Diet series is the “loved by bloggers” hotspot, Farm Girl Cafe.

I found myself heading here after dreary rain messed up hopes of a proper day of exploring London tourist-style and it definitely worked well as a plan B.

I’ve seen more than enough Instagram posts of foodies and bloggers having a nibble at the cafe but I have to admit it stayed low on my list due to the fact it’s a healthy food spot *covers face*

WHERE: 59a Portobello Road, Notting Hill, W11 3DB – just a short walk from the tube station.

The cafe was started by Australian gal Rose Mann who wanted to bring a slice of the good farm life to Londoners.

The ethos of Farm Girl is to “value fresh, nutritionally nurturing ingredients and deliver them in a warm and welcoming environment.”

Tucked away in a little alleyway, the cafe is small but cosy with an outdoor space that is rendered unless once rain starts falling down.

If you can get seated upstairs then take the chance because it was great to look down over everyone and also enjoy a nice, private chat in our own space.

FOOD: The menu is my favourite kind, small and simple. There’s a good amount of options but not so many that you end up being a bit overwhelmed with choice.

The lack of options means you probably won’t visit more than once but considering the fact have to queue for about 30 mins each visit, I don’t see this becoming your weekly spot.

I went for the oven-baked eggs and shared a plate of pancakes with my pal. The eggs were served piping hot and were the perfect portion of yummy tomatoey goodness that I need at the time.

I could have done with a bigger portion of sourdough bread but I guess that would probably make the meal less healthy or something.

Thank goodness, we chose to add the pancakes as a side. They only serve two per plate and I would definitely not have been satisfied if that was my main meal.

VERDICT: If you are already planning to go to this cafe then you really should go and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

I think it’s worth popping in if you are nearby, or fancy spending more time in Notting Hill, but try and ask how long the wait is going to be before you spend an hour waiting around for your grub.
