I recently got the chance to explore the Algarve in Portugal and I can confirm it really is as amazing as people say it is.
One of the highlights of my trip was getting to stay at the Conrad Algarve hotel. The Conrad hotels are the luxury brand from the Hilton chain so look away now if you are on a budget or would prefer to stay in more affordable accommodation.
But if a stay in a five star hotel loved by celebs and local alike is your kind of thing then read on…
1. It is designed to look like a palace
As we pulled up into the grand entrance of the hotel, it really felt like we were about to visit somewhere special.
I think my jaw really did drop to the floor when we pulled up into the lengthy driveway and I literally said: “It almost looks like a palace”.
Turns out I was right, as I was later informed the five-star hotel had been designed with the image of a classic Portuguese palace in mind.
Fitting considering it is in the Golden Triangle area cause, you know, that’s where the big spenders tend to be.
2. The view is just insane
The view at the back of the hotel is even more impressive and definitely destined to feature on your ‘gram.
Perfectly lined palm trees surround a glorious infinity pool and gives you a chance to look out at the beautiful greenery just beyond the hotel’s walls.
Plus, there’s an ample amount of sun beds for you and your holiday gang to lie back and soak up some sun.
The hotel is open all year round so you can come and check out this view whenever your diary allows you to.
3. The food is beyond yummy
As you would expect, the food is amazing. When I stayed, I got to try Chef Osvalde’s mouth-watering seafood & chorizo cataplana which proved just how scrumptious the fresh seafood is in Portugal.
The desserts were even more yummy, even the gluten free ones.
Dinner was followed by a trip upstairs to Gusto bar where the award-winning mixologist gave us a taste of some of his most celebrated creations.
4. They have amazing pool and spa facilities
There’s another pool in the building which is near the spa and offers a chance to chill out away from the crowd.
As you would expect with a five star hotel, the offer everything you need with a spa so treat yourself to a massage or two if you can.
And you don’t have to worry about kids ruining your zen because they are entertained in a kids club in another part of the hotel during the day.
The pool area can even be booked out meaning you’ll have undisturbed use of the pool, sauna and jacuzzi.
5. There’s a TV over the bathtub, y’all
My room had a view of the hotel front which meant it had lot of natural light coming in.
But I spent most of my time in the room taking a soak in the tub and happily a flicking through the channels on the perfectly placed TV screen.
Randomly loads of the channels seemed to be in German but the music stations are English. We all just stream stuff on our phones anyway, but at least you have another option if you wanna take a break from it for a while.
