I’ve been meaning to check out The Roof Deck for far too long. Even though I’m popping over to Oxford Street ALL THE TIME, I just never got round to it paying the restaurant a visit.
Better late than never, eh?
WHERE: Selfridges, 400 Oxford St, London W1A 1AB – about 30 seconds away from Bond Street station.
Finding your way to Selfridges will never be an issue so once you get there you simply follow the signs on the ground floor which lead you to the lift.
A member of staff is usually on hand to guide you up and then it’s time to chow down.
FOOD: I’m happy to report the food is as lovely as you would hope, but the portions could be bigger. This is probably the reason why it took me so long to book a meal but I am glad I did it.
I chose to tuck into the charred monkfish with scallops wrapped in bacon, freekeh and dressing and well, I demand scallops wrapped in bacon becomes a part of my normal life ASAP. Yum dot com.
It cost £27 and definitely wasn’t enough on its own so I’m glad I got some seasoned fries for an extra £4.
I washed that down with a cheeky rhubarb bellini for £12 and then it was good old tap water for the rest of the meal so I didn’t end up sliding into my overdraft, haha.
VERDICT: While I could have probably had another main afterwards, it was a yummy meal and a great atmosphere for a BFF date night.
It would be a lovely place to take a tourist pal or visit when you want to appreciate some of the more mainstream London spots from time to time.
At the end of the day, it’s always a good idea to go for a meal in Selfridges.
